International Week Celebration

In keeping with our aim to be globally aware individuals, CCHS students and staff celebrated International Week; prayers were said each day from a different culture, games and music added flavor to the week, an International Soccer Tournament was held and the week culminated in a delicious International lunch. Eighth Grade Day Underway!

CCHS students have been traveling to our partner schools, inviting 8th grade students to our Eighth Grade Day on November 18th. While at Sacred Heart School in Turlock, Matt Wright and Gianna DiGiovanni stopped in to visit their first grade classroom and ended up working with their old kindergarten buddies on a special project. Gianna works with a special friend here.

Craig Jones - Youth in Philanthropy

We say that Central Catholic High School graduates are Spiritually Developed, Academically Prepared, Socially Responsible Leaders and Globally Conscious Citizens. Craig Jones, a current senior, was recognized for all this and more last week when he was awarded the second Association of Fundraising Professional’s Youth in Philanthropy Award before an audience of 250 Rotarians and AFP members.

Christian Public Servants Breakfast

CCHS Interact students volunteered at the Christian Public Servants breakfast last week. The breakfast honors local people who have made outstanding contributions to their community as well as to their church and raises funds for the John Hollis Scholarships, awards made to graduating seniors who are going on to college to major in the field of public service. CCHS Royalty 2011

CCHS Royalty were crowned between games at Central Catholic's homecoming on Friday night. Jonathon Tsubota and Alex Medieros were crowned senior king and queen, while AD and history teacher Mr. Hylla and Religion teacher Mrs. Banks took the faculty honors.

34th Annual Swing for Central

The 34th Annual Swing for Central Golf Tournament was a huge success with a 153 golfers on the beautiful Del Rio Golf and Country Club course. The day was topped by the induction of four alumni into the Hall of Fame: Jim Pecchenino, '72, Chantal deAlcuaz, '00, Andrew Dignan, '02 (all pictured here) and Byron Storer, '02.

2011 Freshman Retreat

The freshman class gathered at St. Joseph's Parish in Modesto recently for a day-long retreat, led by the Senior Ministry team and campus minister, Mrs. Garrett. Father Brady celebrated Mass with them at the end of the day. Students enjoyed the opportunity to bond as a class and to get in touch with, and share, their spiritual side. De Young Museum

Central Catholic art students recently took a field trip with art teacher, Lisa Barker, to enjoy the Picasso Exhibit at the De Young Museum in San Francisco as well as the Academy of Sciences.

Family Day 2011

Family Day was a huge success as teams of CCHS students competed in a variety of games and contests, from tag football to CCHS trivia. Each famiy was composed of students from each of the four classes, with seniors acting as the parents. CCHS Club Faire

A recent lunch hour was devoted to a Central Catholic Club Faire. Each club on campus set up a table with information about their organization and sign up sheets for new members. Some 85% of Central Catholic students are active in co-curricular affairs, making this a very busy lunch hour.
