Congratulations Josh Lagan

Josh Lagan, Associated Student Body President, (pictured with Senior Counselor Sinh Diep) received a $180,000 scholarship from the Navy ROTC program to attend UCLA next year. This award was just one of those that made up the $10.7 million offered to this year’s senior class at Central Catholic. Graduation will take place this Saturday, at 10 a.m. on David Patton Field.

$10.2 Million in Scholarship Offers

Rotarian Terry Swehla presented three scholarships to CCHS senior at the Senior Awards Ceremonty last week. The three receiving the Rotary Scholarships are Marites Seitz, Jordan Forte, and Jacklyn Trejo. Marites will be attending UCLA next year, Jordan goes to Duke and Jacklyn to Stanford. The senior class as a whole received over $10.2 million in scholarship offers, double the previous record for a CCHS class.

The 2011/2012 Senior Ministry Team

This week, the new Senior Ministry Team was selected for the 2011/2012 school year. These students were selected to lead the community on retreats, during Mass, and every day of the year, to be positive role models and help to any who need. We welcome them to their new roles, and congratulate them on being chosen to serve, and pray for them in their year to come.

Mothers' Day Brunch

Karen and Tony Alamo and their family enjoyed brunch after Mass at CCHS on Mothers' Day. Although the wind tried to interfere Father Brady celebrated a beautiful Mass and there was a full house for brunch, cooked and served by a strong band of fathers. Karen is president of the Boosters Club   

NHS New Inductees

The National Honor Society recently inducted these newest members during a candle lighting ceremony.

Besides having a 3.5 grade point average, members of The National Honor Society must work on two chapter projects a year and seniors must add a third project. During the first semester this year, NHS members held a sock drive for Interfaith Ministries; in the second semester they put together 76 beautiful...

Easter Egg Give-Away

The senior citizens at the Sherwood Center on Maze Boulevard were thrilled to receive a visit from these CCHS "S" Club members who joined them for the Easter Egg Give-Away last Thursday. They passed out a lovely Easter poem and eggs to each individual apartment. They were all so happy and appreciative!

3 CCHS Students Receive Eagle Badges

Three Central Catholic High School seniors were among the four Boy Scouts to receive their Eagle Scout badges at ceremonies at Our Lady of Fatima Church recently. CCHS Career Day

Glynn Hall was filled on Friday with career opportunities for Central Catholic students, opportunities such as nursing, explained by CCHS parent Susan Gates, pictured. At least 25 or 30 businesses were represented in the morning "Career Day". Students visited the various booths, learned a little about what kinds of jobs are available and what college programs will best prepare them for the work. CCHS Clubs

The CCHS Justice League visited the Senior Citizens' complex by the school sharing gifts of flowers, candy and balloons. Students in National Honor Society surprised the Children’s Crisis Center with gift baskets filled with games, puzzles, toys, coloring books, candy and stickers. The Key Club is gearing up for their Annual Easter Egg Hunt. 

BASH 2011!

A big Thank You to all who helped to make BASH 2011 a huge success! With 463 guests (three times last year’s dinner attendance) and a cadre of willing volunteers, the auction netted over $150,000 for our students and the programs at CCHS.

Bob and Marie Gallo were honored at BASH 11 for their longtime support of the gala.
