Gold and blue balloons welcomed parents and family to the gym on Thursday, August 26, for Back to School Night. Parents followed their student’s schedules for a day’s worth of classes, met teachers and were briefed on what to expect in each class. ASB students were on hand to direct them and help them find the proper room – at the right time!
CCHS Senior Kimberly Habeeb participated in both the Stanislaus County and the California State Fairs this year (both running at the same time) Kimberly, shown here with Jim Cover of Britz Fertilizer, had the 4-H Grand Champion market hog at the 2010 Stanislaus County Fair in Turlock. There were over 450 hogs in the show.
Two Central Catholic students, in-coming freshman Nicole Nicholson, and senior Sarah Manseau, spent one of the hottest days of the summer installing insulation in a Habitat for Humanity House under the Youth Builds program for those 10-18. During the summer months CCHS students are anything but coach potatoes. Summer school and summer jobs are typical for many. A number of students work off their books by helping out on campus during the summer. Others use the summer as a good time to fulfill their Christian Service hours. Our graduates are headed to colleges and universities all over the country. This year the 98 members the Class of 2010 were awarded more than $4.1 million in college scholarships (Twenty-four earned more in college scholarships than the tuition to attend CCHS for all four years).
The South missed out on winning the 37th Lions All-Star Classic football game on June 19th by one point – but Dylan Swartz, Tyler Lee, Sebastian Hernandez and CJ Carson, coached by Roger Canepa and Doug Claussen, gave it all they had! The final score was 14 - North, 13 - South.
CCHS supporters gathered recently at the home of John and Linda Glynn for an appreciation dinner. CCHS President Jim Pecchenino thanked those in attendance for all they've done throughout the year for students and staff.
