Physical Education

Physical education at CCHS is a goal oriented program geared toward individual improvement. The program’s goals are for the students to physically improve, obtain the knowledge to live a healthy lifestyle and build positive self esteem through achievement and improvement.

This model is similar to a local Junior High School program that stresses the same goals through physical testing of each student both in strength and endurance, with the demand and challenge being placed upon them by the instructor. Central Catholic’s program has been modified due to the wide range of both age and size of students in each class. Testing and grading is based on, dressing in the correct CCHS physical education clothing along with the consistent physical testing of each student. This is done by establishing a base performance of each type of test for each student, then encouraging, through regular physical testing in the same areas, striving and pushing toward improvement. The grading of the tests is based on the observed and documented improvement of each student in both effort and results.

In addition to the program’s physical demands we also strive to develop each student socially. This is done through teaching and participating in team sports along with partnership weight and strength training. We feel privileged in helping each student improve and hopefully develop a passion toward the physical aspects of one’s health.
