About Dance Education Hello and welcome to the wonderful world of performing arts. I am very excited about the dance program here at Central Catholic and think you will be happy to be a part of it. The journey through the school year will takes us through two very exciting performances at the Gallo Center for the Arts. I have been teaching dance education for over 20 years and my passion and love for the creativity and artistry of dance just continues to grow. I teach 5 periods of dance education and I am the visual and performing arts department chairperson. I am very proud of all the performance work previously presented by my students and I am looking forward to new experiences as the years go by. Parent involvement is crucial during performance time and I invite you to volunteer to help out backstage. All information concerning performances will be articulated via handouts, sent home with your students and also sent through the mail. All information concerning day to day class work will be posted in Net Raider. My classes will emphasize, movement, flexibility, strength, choreography, group dynamics, dance theory and terminology, dance history, different genres of dance, theater etiquette and performance quality. Please check our online calendar for performance events. About Physical Education In addition to dance I also teach one period of physical education. This is a fitness based class. PE students will learn lifetime fitness techniques through resistance training, cardiovascular exercise and yoga along with being exposed to some gameplay activities. Fitness has been a huge part of my life and I'm excited to bring that element of my lifestyle to my PE class. About Cheerleading In addition to my full time teaching schedule, I am also the head cheer coach. Cheerleading has been a love of mine since I was a little girl and I am very proud to be coaching the teams here at CC. The cheer teams get the best of both worlds as they cheer on their teams during game action, but also get to show off their skills as dancers during halftime. They work very hard and do some incredible performances. Cheerleading starts towards the end of July with 4 days of intense dance camp, then really kicks off with football season and runs through the end of Feb when basketball season ends. Tryouts are usually in late April or early May for the following school year. I love big teams and usually take about 35 girls total. See our online calendar for tryout dates!!! Cheerleading is a wonderful way to be involved in your school and promote school spirit. These girls are smart, talented, positive, energetic, and highly motivated to succeed. They usually have the highest collective GPA of all the sports teams at CC. They are awesome student leaders and a great asset to CCHS. Please check them out during games. GO RAIDERS!! If you should ever have any questions or need more info please feel free to e-mail me. WELCOME to Central Catholic and enjoy the ride!!!!! |
