Alumni Profile: Christen Hardee

Christen Hardee,’98, will be inducted into the Humboldt State Athletic Hall of Fame on October 16, 2009. While at CCHS, Christen played catcher on the Raiders Softball Team all four years. She graduated from Humboldt State University in Arcata, CA., Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Sciences and Geology. She also minored in watershed management and received the 2004 Outstanding Student Award from the College of Natural Resources and Sciences.

Christen played catcher for the Lady Jacks her entire college career. In 1999, her freshman year, the Humboldt team was NCAA Division II National Champions and in 2001 they returned to the National Tournament and took 3rd place in the U. S. Christen was named an All-American Scholar- Athlete by the National Fast pitch Coaches Association and was a three- time Pac-West Academic All –Conference selection.

Christen has spent the past four school years teaching and coaching softball. She was a Junior High School teacher in 2005-2008 at St. Bernard’s Catholic School in Tracy, California. She was a Science teacher and J.V. Softball coach at Grace M. Davis High School in 2008-2009. She was also an assistant coach at San Joaquin Delta College in 2005 and at the College of the Redwoods for the 2004 season. Christen is currently the assistant softball coach at the California State University, San Jose.
