Alumni Profile: Leslie Herrmann

Leslie Herrmann, '07, returned home after 8 months traveling and living in Latin America, most specifically Costa Rica and Peru. She has been interning for the Boston Red Sox in the minor leagues for about 3 years now and has witnessed first hand the relevance of Spanish and the emerging market of Latin players in professional baseball. She went abroad to become bilingual and secure her future in the business of baseball. She plans to continue working in the sport upon graduating from Holy Cross in May 2011, and eventually would like to pursue a career in contract law and player salary arbitration.

Prior to studying abroad, she spent her junior year in Washington, D.C. interning for Senator John Kerry of Massachusetts for both his personal office and the Foreign Relations Committee. Her primary focus was working the Telecommunications Committee to research anti-doping strategies in professional baseball. She also drafted and defended a 50 page thesis regarding the relationship between sports sponsorships and governmental oversight during a recession.
