Snapshot of a Photographer

Ric Tapia, attended CCHS in 2002 and 2003 his freshman and sophomore year, he then transferred to Bishop Manogue Catholic High School in Reno, Nevada. He attended the Regional Technical Institute, a vocational school, where he studied Imaging, Animation, and Design. Ric stated that his interest “became focused on Imaging”. He was on the Yearbook staff for his junior and senior years as a photographer. His role was photographing all of the sporting events and other activities on campus. In his senior year he assisted various Reno area photographers and was a freelance photographer for the local paper, The Reno Gazette Journal.

Ric received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Professional Photography from Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, California. Brooks Institute of Photography is one of the most prestigious photography schools in the world. While attending Brooks, Ric completed two internships. The first was at Icon Sports Media, Inc. in Los Angeles, CA. Ric was assigned to photograph Major League Baseball, NCAA Football, NCAA Basketball, Professional Golf, and other sports. The second internship was with Michael Martin Photography in Denver, Colorado. Michael Martin is the team photographer for the National Hockey League Colorado Avalanche team and National Lacrosse League Colorado Mammoth team. Ric assisted and photographed regular season and playoff National Hockey League games. Ric has also worked as an Event Staff Photographer for the ESPN Marketing Department covering the Summer and Winter X Games. After graduating Brooks, Ric worked at NFL.com as a Photo Editor.

Ric has an impressive portfolio. His credits for publications and clients include: Sports Illustrated, ESPN, National Football League, The Sporting News, Golf Magazine, T.V. Guide, ESPN the Magazine, Colorado Avalanche, Upper Deck Images, si.com, espn.com, nbadraft.net, sikids.com, Chicago Sports Review, Aspen Daily News, Santa Barbara New-Press, The Reno Gazette Journal and many others. Ric states “Central Catholic gave me the academic and spiritual foundation for my current success”.
