Welcome home to Jamie Glines, '99

Jamie Glines, '99, got a warm welcome home from friends and family when he returned from his tour of duty in Afghanistan in November, 2010, just in time for Thanksgiving. He is currently a captain in the Marine Corps.

After graduating from CCHS and the United States Naval Academy, Jamie decided to join the United States Marine Corps. Jamie has had an impressive career thus far in the military. He joined the HMLA-267 (the squadron call-sign is "Stingers") in August '07 and transitioned to fly the UH-1Y helicopter in the spring of '08. His HMLA-267 detachment attached to HMM-163 (REIN) ("Evil Eyes") and deployed in January, '09 to the Horn of Africa for maritime interdiction operations (counter-piracy) aboard the USS Boxer (LHD-4) and returned July 31 '09 This was the first deployment of the UH-1Y in the fleet. He left HMLA-267 and joined HMLA-369 ("Gunfighters") in August, '09. He was then deployed with HMLA-369 to Camp Leatherneck, Afghanistan from April '10 to November '10 and flew in support of combat operations throughout the Helmand River Valley.

Jamie will be attending WTI (Weapons and Tactics Instructor course) in Yuma, Arizona from mid-March to the end of April and will deploy once more with the Gunfighters next fall.

Jamie proposed to his fiancée, Elise, on New Year's Eve and they were married on February 12, 2011.
