Dress Code
Students are expected to dress appropriately for school. Students must adhere to the CCHS dress code during regular school hours. The normal dress and grooming code at Central Catholic is as follows:
- Shoes: Tennis shoes or any leather shoe is acceptable. Flip-flop style sandals are permitted.
- Pants: Traditional 4 or 5 pocket, Dockers-style. Any color is permitted. No ragged or torn pants.
- Skirts: No skirts or dresses are allowed.
- Shorts: Traditional 4 or 5 pocket that are Dockers-style cotton blend. Cargo shorts will be acceptable as long as they do not extend past the knee. Any color is permitted. All shorts must be no shorter than 2" above the knee.
- Shirts: All shirts must be a traditional polo or oxford cloth and from a CC approved vendor. All shirts must have a CCHS logo. No more than the top two buttons of any shirt may be unbuttoned.
- Sweaters: All sweaters must be worn over a CCHS dress code shirt.
- Sweatshirts: All sweatshirts must be a CCHS, college or plain color only. No other logos are permitted.
- Facial Hair: Students must be clean shaven. Sideburns may not extend beyond the ear lobe.
- Hair: All students must keep their hair neatly trimmed and groomed. No extreme hair colors or styles are permitted.
- Piercings and Tattoos: Limited to the ear. Other visible piercings are not allowed. Ear spikes, ear gauges and visible tattoos are not allowed.
- Jackets and Coats: Jackets and coats do not take the place of collared shirts. Denim jackets are allowed.
CHAPEL WEAR/PUBLIC EVENTS
All students are expected to dress in chapel wear for school Mass and other designated activities such as public speaking events, job shadowing, student ambassadors and trips to the Diocese.
Chapel wear includes:
- Dress pants or shorts
- Approved dress shirts (oxford cloth, broadcloth or cotton) with the CCHS logo.
- Neckties are suggested with CCHS button-down shirt.
NOT ACCEPTABLE
The following are NOT permitted:
- Denim blue jeans or shorts
- Sagging or baggy pants and leggings
- T-shirts
- Camisoles or tank-tops
- Hats of any type during school hours
- Beards and/or mustaches
- Sideburns that extend past the earlobe and/or are more than 1" wide
- Nose rings, pierced tongues, or other facial jewelry. Heavy chains, wallet chains, spiked collars, or dog collar-like bracelets or belts
- Torn, ragged, written-on, or drawn-on clothing
- Clothing that advertises alcohol, tobacco, narcotics, sex, gangs, and/or anything in poor taste
- Shirts or blouses too short to tuck in pants or shorts or too short to remain tucked at all times
- Sweatpants, warm-ups, or slacks made of warm-up material
- Athletic or PE shorts
CCHS staff always has the discretion to determine whether a student is dressed appropriately. Students who are wearing appropriate clothing but are not wearing it properly are in violation of the CCHS Dress Code. Dress Code Consequences are cumulative throughout the year and will not be reset each Academic Quarter.
