1,010 miles

Senior Zach Juarez cycled 1,010 miles this summer with his father, Ralph, to raise funds for a scholarship in honor of his newly discovered, late grandmother, a member of the Lummi tribe. Zach’s father was adopted as a baby and just recently discovered his Indian heritage. Together the two raised over $16,000 for the Northwest Indian College Foundation, the only accredited American Indian College in the northwest. Their ride took them from Modesto to the Lummi Reservation in northwestern Washington State and took nine and a half days. Zach’s brother John, ’08, accompanied them with a support vehicle. Read more about their efforts on John’s blog.
