Tardy Policy
One of the responsibilities of each student is to be in the classroom ready for work when the bell rings to start class. Please refer to teacher syllabi for rules in each specific course. Tardiness is irresponsible behavior in that it is disruptive to the learning process. If a student is tardy more than 10 minutes, but less than 20 minutes, the teacher has the option of assigning make-up work to compensate for the time not in class. If the student is tardy more than 20 minutes, he/she is considered absent and will be recorded cumulative or noncumulative, depending on the reason. Consequences are based on the quarter and are cumulative. Excused tardies will only be given for extreme weather conditions, traffic conditions and other emergency situations as determined by the school administration. STUDENTS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED MORE THAN 3 EXCUSED TARDIES PER QUARTER.
Consequences
After the third tardy, the consequences are as follows:
- 3RD TARDY - Student contact by the Dean of Students
- 4TH TARDY - Parent and student contact, 1 school detention
- 5TH TARDY - Parent and student contact, 1 school detention
- 6TH TARDY - Parent and student contact, 1 Saturday school detention
- 7TH TARDY - Parent and student contact, 1 Saturday school detention
- 8TH TARDY - Parent and student contact, 1 day suspension
