The following criterion is used in placing students into Honors, College Preparatory or General Education classes.

Honors
  • 'A' grades in prerequisite courses (Honors, Advanced and Gate programs are taken into consideration).
  • 90% or above scoring on current standardized testing.
  • Current English and Math teacher recommendations.
  • Scoring 90% or better on the High School Placement Exam.
College Preparatory
  • Successful completion of a C or better grade in prerequisite courses.
  • Average to above average scoring on standardized testing.Current English and Math teacher recommendations.
General Education
  • Standardized test scores normally in the average to the below average range.
  • Current English and Math teacher recommendations.
  • Students at the 35th percentile or below on the High School Placement Exam.
Please note the above are guidelines. Students may be placed in one of the above course levels on an individual basis depending on the recommendation of the Admissions Review Committee at Central Catholic High School.
