Scholarships

Central Catholic High School seeks to provide an affordable college preparatory education to our families. WE know that an education from Central Catholic High School is an investment in your child's future and one that requires saving, planning, and sacrifice. The Scholarship program was established by the Diocese of Stockton and the Central Catholic High School Foundation to help families send their children to CCHS. WE encourage all students to apply for scholarships!

WE are blessed to be able to offer a substantial number of scholarships, both need—based and merit based. Click here to view the complete Scholarship List. All scholarships REQUIRE filling out the scholarship application, filling out the FACTs financial aid form, submitting 2 letters of recommendation and writing an essay along with a minimum 2.0 GPA. If there are additional requirements or factors scholarships individual committees take into account they will be listed with that scholarship below.

The following scholarships, with the exception of the CCHS Foundation Academic Scholarship and the Joe and Terri Ward Scholarship, will be repeated throughout the students CCHS career as long as criteria continues to be met. Scholarships are available to all students, current and incoming unless noted otherwise in that scholarship.

Those interested in applying for student scholarships are advised to carefully review and follow the Scholarship Application Process. For any questions or further information, please contact Mrs. Joan Hart at hart@cchsca.org or (209) 524-6822.

Scholarship Application Process

  • Complete Scholarship application form online (includes 2 letters of recommendation and at least 1 essay or more depending on the scholarship(s) applied for)

Frequently Asked Questions

List of 8 frequently asked questions.

  • Q. Does applying for scholarships influence admission decisions?

No, applications for admission are decided on a student’s academic progress, grades, test scores and teacher recommendations. Applications for scholarships are considered only after a student has been accepted to the school.
  • Q. Do I need to fill out an application for each scholarship I want to apply for?

No, you can fill out one application form. There is a space to list each of the scholarships you are applying for and multiple areas to write essays if any of the scholarships you are applying for require its own essay.
  • Q. Are scholarships automatically renewed each year?

Yes, in most cases, if the student’s situation remains the same, he/she will continue the scholarship through to graduation. Exceptions are if the family’s financial situation changes, or the students grades or conduct drop. Students must have a 2.0 grade point average to apply for or continue scholarships. Also excepted are the CCHS Foundation Academic Scholarships and the Joe and Terri Ward Scholarship which are meant specifically for incoming freshmen.
  • Q. If parents are applying for scholarships for more than one student are there special instructions?

No, parents need only fill out one FACTS financial aid form; each child should submit his/her own scholarship application, with essay, letters of recommendation, etc.
  • Q. How are scholarships distributed?

Scholarships are generally awarded by March 1 for the following year. Returning students and students coming to us from other Catholic Schools are generally considered first.
  • Q. Will a change in family financial circumstances during the school year change the award?

In cases where circumstances change we advise parents to revise their FACTS Financial Aid form and we will try to secure additional funds for the family.
  • Q. Who will have access to my financial aid information?

Your financial information is submitted to an independent organization for review. Scholarship committee members are only given a range of your need and no other financial information; anything you share with us is kept in the utmost confidentiality.
  • Q. What do scholarships cover?

Scholarships cover only tuition; student fees, activity fees, textbooks, uniforms, etc. must be paid for by the student or parent. The scholarships are applied to the student’s tuition account and are spread out over the payment plan chosen by the parent.
