Ag Teachers Recognized for Great Program

Just recently, on November 17th, California Agriculture teachers from across the central valley gathered together for their annual California Ag Teachers Association fall roadshow and banquet. Two of Central Catholic’s very own teachers, Nicole Morris and Jessica Jordan, were able to attend. At this banquet, many awards were given out to FFA programs and teachers to commend their service and work for the students and members of the FFA. Some of these awards include Outstanding Young Teachers’ award, Outstanding 1 Person Program award, Outstanding 2-3 Person Program award, and Outstanding 4+ People Program award. This year the Central Catholic Ag Department—headed by Nicole Morris and Jessica Jordan— was awarded the 2017 CATA Outstanding 2-3 Person Program in our Stanislaus-Tuolumne FFA Section. This was a special honor for our teachers considering this is the second year of the Central Catholic Agriculture department being a 2-3 person program. All recipients of these awards were voted on by fellow ag teachers in each section.

When asked about winning the Outstanding 2-3 Person Program award, Central Catholic Ag teacher, Nicole Morris, was very excited, “We are extremely humbled and honored. In 2015 we were the Outstanding Single Person Department winner – so it’s exciting to win again in a larger division.”

Morris also received the 2017 CATA Outstanding Young Teacher award for the Stanislaus-Tuolumne Section. This award recognizes young teachers who go above and beyond whether it comes to in-class teaching and activities, or out-of-class FFA competitions or conferences.
