Winter Sports Update

Billy Hylla
The Winter sports season has officially entered the postseason. Soccer is over for both the boys and the girls, but both boys and girls for both wrestling and basketball are moving on!
Soccer-Both boys and girls soccer seasons have come to an end. While neither team made the playoffs, both had successful seasons. The boys fielded a full JV team for the first time in years. On the girl’s side, it was a rebuilding year to a certain extent. but the girls all had fun. Our senior leaders did a great job of keeping everyone focused and showing the younger players the expectations of a true student-athlete at CCHS.

Boys Wrestling
- Our boys wrestlers competed at the CIF DIII Divisional Tournament in Atwater last weekend. We had five wrestlers who competed with two earning the right to compete at Masters. Daniel Bogetti, Colin O’Connor, and Ramsey Ferrer all had great seasons and should be proud for making it to Divisionals. Nate Patino (7th) and Junior Bravo (2nd) both finished high enough to advance to this weekend’s tournament.  A top 6 finish at Masters will advance them to the State Meet in Bakersfield.

Girls Wrestling
- All three of our girls competed at Central Valley High School in the CIF Southern Regional last weekend. Sophia Rivera’s first year wrestling came to an end, but was a huge success. Reanne Ferrer and Samantha Rodgers both qualified for the Masters Tournament this Friday and Saturday. Reanne is a freshman so this is a huge accomplishment. Sam, our senior and team leader, will be wrestling at Masters for the 2nd time. She has been fighting through injuries, but still found a way to will her way to a 6th place finish.

Girls Basketball
- The girls basketball team has made the playoffs.  We are the 10 seed in the CIF SJS DIV bracket. On Tuesday we will travel to San Andreas to take on the 7th seeded Calaveras Reds. Game time is 7:00pm. This should be an exciting matchup. Game info here

Boys Basketball
- Our boys are the 3 seed in the CIF SJS D III playoff bracket. We will face off with #14 Del Campo on Wednesday in our own MGHFC. We are currently the 3 time defending CIF Section Champions. Game time will be 7:00pm. Game info here

All of our winter sports athletes have done a great job representing CCHS this year. If you get a chance please take the time to acknowledge their efforts. We should all be proud of the work they have done.
