50th Anniversary of First Football Championship

On Friday, November 1, 2019 WE celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the First Football Championship. The 1969 Central Catholic Raiders won the Southern League title with a 20-18 victory over Hilmar on the final night of their first season in the league. WE celebrated this momentous occasion with a “Throwback” game and “Throwback” t-shirts. Players, Coaches, Spirit leaders, families and friends enjoyed a tailgate party before the game in the pool area of the Development building with a delicious barbeque from Buckhorn BBQ. A special thank you to Richard Loudermilk, ‘82, for providing this for our team. The team of 1969, Coach Frank Harper, Coach Stan Galas and Coach Mike Glines, Varsity Yell and Song Leaders were recognized for this victory immediately before the Varsity game with Oakdale. There was also a special tribute to David Patton who passed away in 1968. The David Patton Memorial field was dedicated in David’s name on September 1994.
