Parent Teacher Group

Dear CC Parents,

I am incredibly excited to begin my first term as Chairperson for the CCHS Parent Teacher Group!  I previously served as Secretary for two years and was inspired to continue strengthening the role of PTG. The CCHS Parent Teacher Group allows parents and staff to participate together in goodwill to benefit the student body through enrichment activities and programs.

My husband and I have four children, two of which are CC students. Our daughter Olivia will graduate in the Class of 2023, and our oldest daughter Bella graduated in 2019 and now attends Stanislaus State in our hometown of Turlock - (Go Warriors!). In addition, our sons Dominic and Angus will be in the Class of 2028 and 2029, respectively.

As the incoming Chairperson, my goal is to promote the value of a parent and teacher's role in our community while strengthening communication and collaborating on events that enrich the mind and soul of our student body.

Assisting me in achieving this goal is Diane Wentworth, PTG Secretary. Diane has introduced highly successful reward initiatives that directly connect with the students. She will lead us in expanding these into programs that benefit our student body.

Members like Denyse Halverson and Gail Fontes, both Senior parents, have a long and active role in PTG and will continue to support all our activities and programs like Freshman BBQ, Lenten Soup, Faculty Appreciation during Catholic Schools Week, and Scholarships. This year Gail Fontes is on the committee to review and revise our Bylaws and Denyse Halverson will head up the Scholarship committee. Senior scholarships are given by recommendation of faculty and presented at Senior Awards Night.

Our fundraising activities that support our actions and programs include drive-thru dinners, scheduled 8/19 during Back to School Night and 2/14 Valentines Day. Additionally, PTG, in coordination with Boosters, will host a GridIron Night Wednesday, August 25th, sharing in the funds raised through raffle sales. Finally, PTG Poinsettia Sales will surely brighten our homes and offices during the Christmas season, depending on supply.

New this year is the addition of a Facebook Group – CCHS PTG, spirit t-shirt and hats, and we are updating our web page, and creating signage to identify our activity on campus better.

Our Central Catholic community's generosity of time, talent, and treasure are what we rely upon in all we do. So many of our parents show enthusiasm in the enrichment of our students – our kids. There are multiple ways you can be involved. For example, attending meetings to bring your voice and vote, volunteering on a work crew, lead or contribute to a special committee, such as Hospitality, Scholarship, or Publicity.  If time is tight but you would still like to participate, sponsorship opportunities are also available by providing food and drinks to activities, such as the Lenten Soup, Faculty Lunch, Senior Awards Night.

Our community at Central Catholic is a remarkable thing, and it brings me joy to be a part of it, give service to it, and promote it and I hope you will join me.

God Bless and Warmest Regards,
DeeDee Santos, PTG Chair
